Two Healthy And Cheery Preschool Boys Playing Around_Repton Singapore

At Repton Schoolhouse, we develop the children’s motor skills and knowledge of health and safety through participation in physical activities. Children participate in activities, developing physical skills and growing in confidence and self-esteem.

Moving and Handling

Teachers at Repton Schoolhouse focus on developing the children’s skills to show good control and coordination in large and small movements. Our aim is for the children to move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.

Health and Self Care

Repton Schoolhouse children know the importance of good health, physical exercise, and a healthy diet., and can talk about ways to keep healthy and safe. The children are supported to manage their own basic hygiene and personal needs successfully.

Fine Motor Skills Acquisition

Fine motor skills involve coordination and control of the wrists, fingers and hands in carrying out a specific task with precision. When children have well-developed fine motor skills, they are able to use drawing, writing and art tools such as pencils, chalk, scissors and paintbrushes more efficiently as well as being able to perform self-help tasks such as tying their shoelaces and fastening buttons.

Gross Motor Skills Acquisition

Gross motor skills involve the use of the large muscles in the arms, legs and torso during movement. Repton Schoolhouse teachers design experiences to develop the large muscles so that children are able to perform fundamental and manipulative skills. Through carefully planned and organised experiences, children develop healthy habits and fitness, and learn about safety at home, in kindergarten and at public places.
